Resolving to Keep Resolutions

Resolving to Keep Resolutions.jpgA New Year's resolution is a tradition in which a person resolves to change an undesired trait or behavior, to accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their life. On January 1st people will resolve to improve physical and mental well-being; to improve finances, careers or education; to travel; to try new things; to be more spiritual; the list can go on and on.

While many will set a resolution, few will follow through and achieve them. The most common reasons for failure are setting unrealistic goals, setting too many goals and not keeping track of progress.

If you are resolving to keep your resolutions this year here are few tips to set, you up for success:

  • Don't make too many resolutions, set one realistic goal and work towards achieving it.
  • Start off small and grow with your goal, for example if you resolve to run a marathon start out by running small distances and work towards running the full distance.
  • Pat yourself on the back to maintain your motivation. Taking the time to recognize your achievements will go a long way towards reaching your ultimate goal.
  • Track your progress to maintain your commitment. Write your goals down and keep track of what you are doing to achieve them in a daily journal.
  • If you fall, just get back up. Anyone can experience a setback no matter how committed they are to achieving their goals so don't feel guilty about slipping up and just keep moving forward!

At the Morris Law Group, individually we have each set our resolutions for the New Year. Collectively, we resolve to continue to be of assistance to our clients (both current and new) to help people get compensated for injuries, to protect the rights of those who have sustained personal injury, to continue to give back to our community and to show our clients that they are appreciated.

The New Year brings everyone a chance to improve habits and make necessary changes in our lives. We wish you success in keeping your resolutions and wish you and those around you a safe and prosperous New Year.
